Dissertation topic
Value-Instantiating Beliefs

Dissertation abstract
I study contextual differences in ways in which personal value priorities motivate attitudes, and, consequentially, behavior. My core argument is that while abstract values are universal, the ways in which they are expressed are context-specific and depend on shared beliefs about particular qualities of the object of attitude. In two studies, one experimental and the other based on secondary data, I examine the moderating effect of beliefs on value-attitude relations
