Research Groups & Initiatives
As part of its education concept, BIGSSS supports early scientific independence of its fellows. This includes supporting fellows in organizing in a bottom-up fashion their own events and research groups which meet their specific interests and at the same time enable them to build up professional networks.
Below you find some examples of fromer research groups and inititaives:
- Former joint research groups in cooperation with the Heinrich-Böll Foundation and the Hans-Böckler Foundation
- In 2022, a group of PhD and postdoctoral Fellows from BIGSSS and SOCIUM organized a conference on “Intergenerational Inequalities and the Contemporary Family Setup”
-
In spring 2016, BIGSSS fellows established a working group "migration and refugee studies" with the aim to bring together fellows from all fields and disciplines to discuss (their own) research related to this topic.
BIGSSS' Career Development Team is another working group in which our fellows organize transferable skill coursed to support their career and research. The team also collects and spreads information on funding, job postings, and other opportunities.
