On June 13th, Aya Alwais delivered a compelling talk in Essen to an audience of 120 Syrian students during the launch of the “Syrian Students Union in Germany”. She presented her dissertation topic, "Identity Development of Syrians in Germany and Turkey," sharing valuable scientific insights with a group that also serves as her research sample. Her presentation provided an overview of her research and explored the forced migration process that Syrians have experienced since 2011, along with its post-migration implications.

Additionally, Aya took part in a panel discussion, where she shared her experiences as a PhD fellow at a German university. Her research delves into the various factors influencing identity development, including the social relationships of Syrians in Germany, their experiences within the host society, and their use of digital media.
