Two BIGSSS postdocs as Young Academy Fellows of the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg

Adekunle Adedeji, visiting postdoc at BIGSSS and member of Klaus Boehnke’s work group at Constructor University, has been awarded Young Academy Fellow by the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg (Akademie der Wissenschaften in Hamburg).

Through the Young Academy Fellows Program, the Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg provides financial and academic support to outstanding young researchers of all disciplines in Northern Germany for a period of three years. The aim is to integrate the fellows into the work of the Academy, to provide them with an academic network, and to offer space for interdisciplinary and intergenerational research dialogues and activities.

The fellowship will allow Adekunle to further develop his research, focusing on the well-being of minority populations, while integrating a more interdisciplinary approach to addressing complex social issues. "The Academy of Sciences and Humanities in Hamburg is a window to limitless knowledge and endless possibilities in my academic journey” Adekunle says.  “The Young Fellow program is a creative space where I can sharpen my ideas and see the world with new eyes."

Already last year, BIGSSS alumnus and Affiliated Postdoc Dennis Redeker was accepted into the Young Academy Fellow Program of the Academy of Sciences Hamburg. Dennis appreciates the interdisciplinary exchange of the program: "We need academy of sciences today more than ever to counter the polarization of our time through long-term exchange across the boundaries of scientific disciplines. The YAF [Young Academy Fellow] program enables me to have such an exchange with colleagues from northern Germany." Dennis is currently a postdoctoral researcher at the Platform Governance, Media, and Technology Lab at ZeMKI.
