For the academic year 2021-22, Francesco Laruffa joins BIGSSS and Frank Nullmeier's working group at Socium. Laruffa is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Geneva. His stay is funded by a PostDoc Mobility Grant from the Swiss National Science Foundation.

During his research stay in Bremen, Francesco Laruffa wants to deepen and broaden his reflections from is PhD thesis on the social investment paradigm. In his PhD thesis at the University of Geneva, he explored the question of whether the social investment paradigm is an alternative to neoliberalism. He wants to deepen the reserach focus by empirically analyzing the relationship between the social investment approach and the EU environmental goal of sustainability. His plans for broadening are to include international organizations such as the OECD, the United Nations and the World Bank into his research. His aim is to develop a usable normative framework for inclusive sustainable policies.

Francesco Laruffa studied economics and public policy at the Universities of Turin, Paris and Tübingen and received his PhD in socioeconomics from the University of Geneva. He was a research fellow at the Humboldt University of Berlin (from 2013 to 2016) and at the University of Geneva (from 2016 to 2021).

We look forward working with him! If you are interested in his reserach, feel free to contact Francesco
