Call for Applications: Affiliated and Adjunct PhD Fellowships at BIGSSS › view all

We are delighted to announce a new round of admissions for the BIGSSS Affiliated and Adjunct programs starting in September 2019! The deadline for applications to both programs is June 30, 2019.

Affiliated PhD Program

The Affiliated PhD Program is offered to doctoral candidates who work in third-party funded or professorial research projects in the Social Sciences at the University of Bremen or Jacobs University. They take part in the BIGSSS curriculum with a reduced workload and complete several PhD Milestones. Affiliated fellows benefit from the BIGSSS' supervisory structure which entails independent supervision by a three-member Dissertation Committee chosen by the fellow in consultation with the Coordinator of his/her Thematic Field.

Adjunct PhD Program

The Adjunct PhD Program is offered to doctoral candidates who are supervised by BIGSSS Faculty members and work in the Bremen Social Sciences. Adjunct fellows have an opportunity to integrate into BIGSSS with a low threshold and an easy application process. Doctoral researchers can apply for the BIGSSS Adjunct PhD Program from the beginning of their dissertation projects at Bremen. For those who have already started their dissertation projects and would like to become adjunct fellows, an application is also possible.
