To start with, here is a checklist of important issues you might have to deal with. Please check the linked pages for detailed information.

General information:

• housing
• insurance: health insurance, (personal liability insurance is included in your student registration)
• open a German bank account - before or immediately upon arrival

Fellows without German citizenship:

• visa / residence permit

After arrival in Bremen:

• register your residence
• EU citizens: instead of a visa, you need to complete a so-called Aufenthaltsanzeige within three months of moving to Bremen
