University of Bremen - Galileo Residence
Galileo Residence is a private student hall that opened in autumn 2009. It offers 2-bedroom and 9-bedroom flats. Every flat has a kitchen and living room area, shared with the other residents. The kitchen is equipped with a fridge and freezer, a hob with oven, electric kettle, a microwave, toaster, sufficient cutlery and crockery and other cooking utensils. All rooms have a large cupboard one can store clothes and other belongings in, a huge desk complete with bookshelves and plenty of electrical sockets for the electrical appliances. In addition there is a large mirror in each room. Internet access is available in every room. Furthermore, there are different room categories, depending on whether one wants a separate bathroom or if one is willing to share with a close friend, or if one wants a balcony. In order to secure the preferred room it is important to apply as early as possible.
The building has a separate completed bicycle area, a storeroom in the basement, the laundrette with modern washing machines and dryers. Limited parking space is also available.

Jacobs University - Colleges and Student Halls
Jacobs University offers housing for graduate students in the four residential colleges. Life on campus means living in a lively community of many undergraduates, some graduates and college staff, and three meals a day. The rooms reserved for graduate students are furnished single room apartments. Namely, you have a room with a bed, desk and wardrobe, a private bathroom with a shower and a small hallway in your apartment, whereas you are sharing a kitchen with the rest of the people who live on your floor. Generally, you will be asked to sign a renewable contract for a semester or a year. But there may be exceptions to this and you might be allowed to have a shorter/longer contract.
The on-campus housing goes together with a meal plan, these two cannot be separated. The meal plan allows you to use the servery, which can be found in each college on the ground floor. The serveries are open 3 times a day and you get 12.66 euros/day to spend on food purchased from there. The total subsidized cost during the academic year 2009/2010 is 550 Euro per month for graduate students. Things included in this cost are: rent for the room, electricity, high-speed internet, water, telephone, 3 meals a day, kitchen access, study facilities, printers, college events... To sum up, everything is covered!
The price might be increased at some later point (600euros/month) and it might also vary if you have a full time working contract (40 hours/week).
For more information on pricing and contract lengths, please contact Mr. Antony Day a.day
jacobs-university.de.
There are four colleges on campus: Krupp College, Mercator College, College III and the newest one College Nordmetall, each with a unique personality. More information about the colleges can be found on the Jacobs University website as well as the college’s websites. To get a room on campus you need to contact the college office managers from the college in which you want to apply to and follow their instructions.
Please also indicate a second or third choice in case that your college of choice is already overbooked but please do not apply to multiple colleges! If there is no room at you first choice, your application will be forwarded to your second choice. For the Fall semester, applications are evaluated shortly after July 1st and shortly after August 1st. If you apply for a room in the middle of the semester, you can still get one if there is one available.
