Apartments in Bremen

If you are looking for an apartment there are several options to find one. Please find below a list of some chanels you might want to use. The biggest hindrance for most of you will probably be if you do not speak German since many private landlords might not speak English at all. We will do our best to help you solve this problem, i.e. by translating housing offers.

At first, have a look at the nonofficial rent costs index (unfortunately only available in German). It supplies an overview of the rent cost situation in Bremen in 2004/05. Other useful sites are the notice board at Bremen's official website www.bremen.de (German webpage, offers are usually German only, too) and at the websites of public housing agencies. Some of them are:

• GEWOBA (probably the biggest choice in accommodation, but website in German only)
• Gagfah (website in English and German)
• BREBAU (website in English and German)
• Gewosie (website in German only, but primarily offers accommodation in Bremen-Nord)

There are also several sites of local newspaper like TAZ , Bremer Anzeiger, Weser Kurier, or AbisZ with housing ads. All of these are only available in German.

Please note that in Germany apartments are usually unfurnished.
